Archival Pigment Print. Singed and dated.

In this work I use portraits from public and personal archives, as well as original photographs as a means to explore the relationship between immigration and slavery. I create temporary collages by projecting or making a copy of the original photograph and rephotographed it “floating” on fabric patterns, water, sand or paint. The image then gets transferred into a gold or silver leafed gilded panel, and finished with further painting and varnishing techniques.

The original images for this series measures 24x36x2 inches. To find more about the original collages or to visit my studio please contact me here.
